Massage Therapy has many benefits and provides pain and stress relief for people of all ages.

Certain health issues may be a concern. Ask you doctor about any medical conditions that may affect massage therapy. We accommodate most people unless massage is a contraindication for you.

Massage may not be right for people with certain health or skin conditions.

If you have contagious conditions such as cold, flu, poison ivy, infectious disease or fever, please wait until these conditions are clear. Sunburns, open wounds, varicose veins, broken bones, hernias and with in 72 hours of any accident are reasons to wait to receive a massage. Please contact your health care professional if you have health concerns relating to massage.

Contraindications:

Massage is generally safe as long as it's done by a licensed massage therapist. But massage isn't appropriate for everyone. Discuss massage with your doctor first in cases of:

Burns or open wounds

Heart conditions/Stroke

Contagious or infectious diseases and skin conditions

Certain cancers, please discuss with your doctor and provider*

Blood clots

Fractures

Rheumatoid arthritis (flare ups)

Severe osteoporosis

Pregnancy (First Trimester or complicated pregnancies)

With-in 72 hours of an injury or accident.


Some forms of massage can leave you feeling a bit sore the next day. But massage shouldn't be painful or uncomfortable. If any part of your massage doesn't feel right or is painful, speak up right away. Most serious problems come from too much pressure during massage.

*Cancer patients can seek relief from pain and promote health and well-being, but there may be some conflict where massage is not recommended.
